Recently two customers called in to place orders for Samsung batteries and complained that our prices were a bit high. We began to explain where we purchase our batteries and why our prices were a bit higher. Each customer seemed to understand and placed orders. The cellphone models were older and the original batteries have been out of production for a while. I suggested that it is better to purchase a “Fresh” aftermarket battery than an older battery that lost integrity.
To my surprise, both customers asked if the reason their batteries “Melted” were the fact they were older. Usually not, Original batteries and quality aftermarket batteries have specific circuitry to prevent this type of issue. One of the customers was kind enough to ship us the damaged battery. Upon it’s arrival, the fun began.
We took the engorged battery to Expercell and cracked it open. The housing looked great on the outside (even in it’s expanded condition) but the insides were as naked as a jaybird. The quality of the components in this counterfeit battery was a complete joke.
Buyer Beware. We sell hundreds of cellphone batteries and always evaluate new venders. In the past year almost half (50%) of the samples we get are counterfeits and-or B stock batteries. It makes me sick that we are struggling during these economic times while Madolf, counterfeiters, unknowing eBay sellers, and legitimate companies are making a killing selling crap for less while claiming they’re authentic.
We want to support our customers with educational materials and have created a new section to help you make better buying decisions and get the best Value for your dollar.
Extend your battery life with better reception. The stronger your signal, the less power your cellphone requires to maintain connection with the cell towers…
